The son of Venezuelan immigrants growing up in the heart of the midwest in St. Louis, Missouri, I randomly fell in love with film and the moving image. The colors, sound, and set pieces reeled me in but what made me stay was recognizing an image's power to tell a story, to bring to life hidden ideas and concepts and make them become familiar.
I attended Washington University in St. Louis where I cemented and expanded my idea of film, becoming fascinated with documentary-real aesthetics, politics and identity in world cinema, and how film's style plays a larger role in how we perceive life.
I'm interested in capturing the sights and sounds of everyday life and using film as a catalyst to explore underrepresented stories to ultimately make the unfamiliar familiar.
